International Mission Trip in 2014

Plans are being made for a mission trip to Romania in the Summer of 2014. The trip is open to youth (students that have completed 9th grade by summer 2014), parents of youth, and any other interested adults.

Bring your questions and enthusiasm for this exciting opportunity to our informational meeting on Sunday, April 21, 2013 right after church. We will meet in the Education Lobby.

VBS Kickoff Meeting

Believe it or not, it’s time to ramp up for VBS! VBS at Faith will be the week of June 17-21, 2013 from 6-8 pm.

If know you are interested (or if you might be interested) in volunteering for VBS in any capacity, please plan to attend our kickoff meeting on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 6:30 pm here at the church.

Relay for Life events are held all over the country to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society. This year, the Denton Relay for Life event will be on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Guyer HS football field, and a team from Faith Church will be there! Get active – be part of a team support system for those who are battling cancer and help make our Faith spirit known in the community! Become a team member, or pledge any amount to Team Faith OR a team member's personal fundraising goal. The Faith In Action group will be spear-heading this effort.

• Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries take part in this global phenomenon.
• Relay for Life events are held all over the country to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society.

What is a relay event?

• Organized, community fundraising event
  • It’s not a ‘"race" or an athletic endeavor—you do not have to be a runner to participate
• Teams of people set up "stations" around a track, and team members take turns walking around the track
  • Most of the participants walk in small groups, visiting with friends, listening to the music and enjoying the event for a lap or two before trading out with another team member and sitting down with the group
• Food, games and activities provide entertainment and build camaraderie
• Family-friendly environment for the entire community

How can I get involved?

• We are encouraging participation throughout the day, but Faith’s Praise Band and Praise Chorus will perform from 5:30-6:15, so we’d like to propose that from 5-7 pm we gather as a church—bring your own picnic dinner—and enjoy some great music and fellowship while supporting a great cause.
  • Concession stand will also be available—funds raised support Relay for Life
• Become a team member or pledge any amount to Team Faith OR a team member's personal fundraising goal.
• Purchase and decorate a luminaria in honor of someone with cancer. Luminaria are available ($10) on the table in the Connection Center.
• Purchase a "Team Faith" t-shirt. Team members will wear this shirt while they walk—and we’d love for you to purchase one even if you are not walking. Shirts will be available soon—suggested donation price of $7.00.
• Our Faith In Action group is spearheading this effort. You can find more information at their table in the Connection Center

Would you like to make a God-sized difference in the world? Join us on Thursday April 11 at 7:00pm when we will welcome Gaston Warner, Executive Director of ZOE.

ZOE Ministry has a simple foundation: help children help them-selves. Over the last few years, the people of Faith have faithfully committed to this effort.

Mr. Warner will share updates about the children Faith has helped free from the bondage of poverty and despair , and tell us more about how you and your family can become involved in our ongoing efforts. Everyone is invited to attend.

In conjunction with Pastor John’s upcoming sermon series, Making Sense of the Bible, Mardel will be here to set up a Bible display on Sunday 4/14 and Sunday 4/21. Bibles in a variety of translations and at a variety of price points will be available for purchase on those days. 

Research shows that far and away the number one catalyst for individual spiritual growth is reading and reflecting on scripture. If you don’t have a Bible—or don’t have a Bible translation that you enjoy reading—this will be a great opportunity to remedy that. 

Did you know… 

The Bible has been translated into many languages from the biblical languages of Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. Indeed, the full Bible has been translated into over 450 languages, and some sections of the Bible have been translated into over 2,000 languages.

We are offering something new from Dave Ramsey. This new course is a long-awaited follow-up to Financial Peace University called The Legacy Journey.

This new course does not replace FPU; instead, it is for those who want to know what's next, once their families are free from debt. If FPU was God showing you how to wake up, The Legacy Journey is God showing you how to grow up. This class leads members into a deeper look at what the Bible has to say about wealth and gives them practical tools for managing their resources and living a generous life.

The class will meet on Sunday evenings at 6:00pm starting on Sunday April 7. The cost for this course is $90. If you would like to register or want more information, contact Jennifer.

Starting April 7, 2013, on Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m., Faith will offer Financial Peace University. The cost is $95. Join us to embark on a journey toward financial freedom!

The Box, the Plan and the Story - Financial Peace University

Our youth will be doing some fundraising this Sunday, March 24.

All of our youth who plan to go on a summer mission trip will be seeking pledges for a S.T.R.I.V.E. workday on Saturday March 30 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. On March 30, they will be helping the elderly of Denton with home repairs. The money they raise will help even more people this summer, as it will be used to offset costs of their summer mission trips - where they will repair homes for the impoverished of Texas.

Faith has scheduled an Easter Egg Hunt for Sunday, March 24, 2013, immediately following worship. Children up through 5th grade are invited to participate. Kids bring your baskets; parents bring your cameras. :)

We would greatly appreciate candy donations for the Easter Egg Hunt--no chocolate. You can bring donations here to the church over the next two weeks.
