I don’t know about you, but I definitely felt the rush of the Christmas season this past week. It officially caught up with me. Why is it that with two weeks to go, I’m still frantically wrapping presents like I’m out of time? It’s like the chaos is contagious, and I can’t keep it from invading every part of my life. I want things to be different!
In moments like this, I have to stop and remind myself that there is a reason that we, in the church, celebrate the Advent season. It’s intended to be a season in which we all take the time to slow down as we wait for the birth of Christ. Instead, we blow through it like it’s just another time of year.
This weekend, we are going to be talking about JOY in worship. I’m finding these days that joy is something that takes time, too. It’s hard to find joy when we are rushing around like there is no tomorrow! My hope for all of us is that we find ways to stop and slow down in these days leading to Christmas. Leave something undone if you have to! Breathe deeply, remember that you are loved for who you are, not what you do, and join with Christians around the world, waiting for the birth of our Savior.
I hope to see you Sunday morning for an exciting morning! Make the time to sit back and wait with us, as we experience the joy of the season!
Your pastor and friend,
